The Right to Information Act and benefit of the people

Probably Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM) was the first to introduce the Right to Information Act, which we do not feel at all. He implemented the Right to Information Act in his 63-year life and 23-year balanced rule of law successfully, though the task of the RTI has only been introduced in the seventeenth century in the modern world.

Begining from His personal life to social life including state life, He showed the effectiveness of the Right to Information Act. However, for this reason his administration created the histrical example of strict accountability, transparency and integrity. It was His first slogan for the Right to Information Act that ''you have to spread an Ayat or sentence of the Holy Qur'an among the people if needed.'' He was not loyal for hiding any information in the interest of accountability.

It is a tiny before the beginning of the discussion. During the rule of Hazrat Omar (R), in officially cloth was distributed free to all. Omar (R) as Caliph, he also got a part of cloth. The next Friday prayers in the mosque, he was ready to deliver his Friday speech (Khutbah) as the Imam (Leader).

But a protestant muslim asked him to express publicly his explanation saying that '''O Caliph, we got a part of cloth like you and it was impossible to us for making a shirt with the clothes? But how the shirt so long as you made by that cloth, explain me please? Omar was not angry but smilely replied, 'my son would solution your ask.' Then there was his son said-''I sacrificed my part of the cloth to my father so that a long shirt could be made for him.''

So understand! What the accountability and transparency was then? But does anyone dare to ask such a ask to the current ruler of any country or have they chance to say?

However, the Independent Press Law, which first started in Sweden in 1766 through the issue of open information flow to the people. Then the 90 countries of the world ensured by adding the independent press Act in their constitutions. Except Sweden two more countries introduced the independent press Act in their countries, after then the law was adopted in United States as the fourth state in 1966 only. This law in the name of 'Freedom of Information Act' was adopted In 2000 in the UK, 2002 in Pakistan and 2005 in India.

It may be mentioned that thought, conscience and freedom of speech is recognized as a fundamental right of citizens in the Constitution of Bangladesh. Because of their basic human rights is an integral part of the right to information. So the government has passed the 'Right to Information Act -2009' for ensuring the empowerment of the people of all strata of the country.

However, we got the law as the result of a long process. We hope that the correct application of the law as well as the adam's bridge between the government and the people will remove corruption from the society and the state.

But this must be the first to come forward the people to help implement the RTI Act-2009.
